Chin & Cheek Implants

• CHIN IMPLANT

A chin implant is designed to give a more balanced appearance to the lower face and neck. It may be used in conjunction with a facelift to help better define the jawline and neckline. In some cases the chin augmentation is used to minimize the appearance of over-projection of the nose. This surgery is a cosmetic procedure and is therefore not covered by your health insurance company.

INCISIONS: The incision is very well hidden, either in the crease beneath the chin or inside the mouth behind the lower lip.

ANESTHESIA: A chin implant is usually performed in the main (hospital-based) operating room or may be performed in the office-based surgical suite, under local anesthesia, local with sedation, or general anesthesia.

RECOVERY: A chin implant is performed on an outpatient basis. You will be asked to use ice packs on the chin/neck area for 24 hours following surgery to minimize the mild bruising and swelling that can be expected temporarily after surgery. The amount of bruising and swelling varies from person to person, but usually resolves within about 5-7 days. You may resume light activity after a few days, with normal activity (including jogging and weight training) at about 10 days after surgery.

• CHEEK IMPLANT

A cheek implant is designed to give a more balanced appearance to the upper face and lower eyelids. It may be used in conjunction with a facelift to help better define the cheeks, smooth out the lines between the nose and lips, and fill in the depression/creases under the lower eyelid bags. Cheek implants are made in different shapes to customize their use to fit the needs of each patient's face. This surgery is a cosmetic procedure and is therefore not covered by your health insurance company.
